Liz West's work features in this years Salon exhibition. South Square Salon Show 2010 has provided the opportunity for an abundance of diverse artists to exhibit their work together in Thornton during this festive period. South Square Gallery is a grassroots exhibition space committed to providing a professional and supportive resource for artists and emerging curators. Now celebrating our 25th year we have built a strong reputation as an integral and ambitious contemporary art venue, hosting an ever evolving dialogue between artists and their audiences.
Every available surface of the gallery has been covered with exciting and engaging contemporary art, hanging work from floor to ceiling in a traditional salon style. The Salon showcases the best in visual art today, expect artworks covering a broad range of themes in a variety of mediums reflecting the breadth of grassroots art practice from the Yorkshire region and beyond.
South Square Bonfire Night Party
Friday 5th November, 7-9PM
South Square will be hosting a festive opening night for the Salon Show on November the 5th, from 7-9pm. There will be pie and peas and warm drinks available, art for sale, and a burning phoenix display.
People attending the gallery opening night will be invited to attach wishes and hopes to the wings of a phoenix. The mythical bird will catch fire at 8.00 p.m. and we will find out if those dreams and desires are reborn and renewed in the ashes. Bring your ideas and thoughts to a very special opening night of the Salon Show.
